Summer Vacation part 2

Geleene’s friend Abby picked us up after we finished with the boats and we drove to Salem to check out some witches. We went to the Witch Museum which is really just propaganda masquerading as a museum. It went on and on about how stereotypes of witches wearing pointy hats and riding on broomsticks are bad. Then you are let out into a gift shop full of, you guessed it, pointy hats and broomsticks. Salem was a funny place.

On Sunday we visited Paul Revere's house and the Old North Church, where Paul hung the signal lanterns. You know, one if by land, two if by sea. I am ashamed to admit that I had to do some research to find out if he hung one or two lanterns...surely I should know that.

Then we went on a Harbor cruise.

After the harbor cruise we went to Cambridge. In Harvard Square, you can see the Car Talk headquarters.

What did you think of the dolls in Salem?

I don't think we saw any dolls...

In the museums? Did you go in a dungeon?

Oh, we didn't go to the Witch Dungeon Museum. I think ours was the Salem Witch Museum. You just sat in a dark room while a scary voice talked and random witch scenes were illuminated.

Oh that one is kind of dumb. The Witch Dungeon Museum was kind of cool. We went in all of them because Heather wanted to find one that did not have dolls.

Yeah it was really lame. We only had time for one before everything closed and clearly we did not choose wisely.

What was she looking for, live witches?

Yeah, you should have gone to the Dungeon Museum or the Pirate Museum. Darn, I guess you'll just have to go back now.

I think she wanted something scary.
